RARC Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics Working Group featuring Frank Wendt – Identifying Variants With Large Effects on Risk of Depression Using Severe Phenotype

April 28 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Join us for the next RARC Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics Working Group featuring Frank Wendt, PhD, Statistical Geneticist in the Analytical Genetics and Data Science Unit at the Regeneron Genetics Center. His work focuses on genetic target discovery across psychiatric, pain, and auditory traits, with prior research examining psychiatric symptom clustering and structural variation in complex traits. In this talk, “Identifying Variants with Large Effects on Risk of Depression Using Severe Phenotype,” Dr. Wendt will discuss approaches to careful phenotyping in depression research and how to balance strict case definitions with the need for large sample sizes to identify novel genetic associations.
