My research focuses on the neuronal mechanisms of drugs of abuse and related behaviors, such as anxiety, depression, and pain, and how we can use that information to inform prevention and intervention. It integrates electrophysiology, chemogenetic, molecular analysis, and behavioral studies in rodents. I am particularly interested in the neuronal mechanisms of misuse of drugs and substances such as alcohol, opioids, and marijuana.
