Dr. Anne Fernandez’s research focuses on improving the identification, treatment, and implementation of evidence-based care for substance use disorders across healthcare settings. Her work integrates addiction health services research, digital health interventions, artificial intelligence, and implementation science to develop, evaluate, and increase access to effective treatment and improve patient outcomes. Funded by NIAAA and HEAL, she develops and evaluates innovative approaches to identify individuals with unhealthy substance use and engage them in care, with a particular emphasis on alcohol-associated liver disease, perioperative care, and the integration of addiction treatment into routine medical practice.
