Introducing the TRUE RARC Scholar Program: A New NIH-Funded Opportunity for Undergraduates in Addiction Research

We’re excited to announce the launch of the Training in Research Undergraduate Experience through the Rutgers Addiction Research Center – the “TRUE RARC” Scholar Program, a new NIH-funded initiative aimed at fostering career paths in addiction research and behavioral data science. We’re reaching out to you to help circulate this opportunity among STEM students from underrepresented backgrounds, especially freshmen and sophomores, to support them from foundational training through graduate school matriculation.

Program Overview:

Are you interested in addiction research and eager to develop skills in this growing field? Here’s your chance to join the TRUE RARC Scholar Program and gain hands-on experience!

Program Schedule:

  • Spring 2025 course: Data Science & Addiction Research I 
  • Summer 2025 course: Data Science & Addiction Research II (tuition stipends available) 
  • Fall 2025 & Spring 2026: Paid Research Experiences in Faculty Labs 

Note: Courses and lab experiences are hosted in person in Newark and New Brunswick. Courses are also available online. Students enrolled in the in-person sections of the courses will be prioritized for paid research experiences, but all students (including online) are eligible for summer tuition stipends.
