The opioid epidemic has impacted the lives of many. Women, however, are particularly vulnerable on many levels. This course provides an overview of the DSM 5 criteria for Opioid Use Disorders (OUDs)  from a trauma informed perspective. Participants will explore the unique needs and challenges of women and pregnant women seeking treatment. A brief discussion of Positive/Adverse Childhood Experiences (P/ACEs) serves to highlight treatment implications. Course concludes with interventions that address barriers to treatment and relapse prevention to support women in the recovery process.
