Annual NIDA-NIAAA Frontiers in Addiction Research Mini-Convention & Early Career Investigator Showcase

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) cordially invite you to attend the Annual NIDA-NIAAA Frontiers in Addiction Research Mini-Convention. The Mini-Convention is being held this year in person in Chicago (location TBD) on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 9:00am-5:00pm CT. The agenda for the Mini-Convention includes: 1) the 2024 Jacob P. Waletsky Memorial Award Lecture; 2) three scientific sessions: Psychedelics and Empathogens for Treatment of Alcohol and Substance Use Disorders; GLP-1 Receptor Agonists for the Treatment of Substance Use Disorders; and the Habenula as an Anti-Addictive Circuit Hub; and 3) the Early Career Investigator Showcase. The ECIS symposium will be held during the Annual NIDA-NIAAA Frontiers in Addiction Research Mini-Convention (in-person meeting to be held 9:00am–5:00pm CT in Chicago (location TBD) on Friday, October 4, 2024; https://apps1.seiservices.com/
The agenda for the Mini-Convention includes: 1) the 2024 Jacob P. Waletsky Memorial Award Lecture; 2) three scientific sessions on emerging topics; and 3) the ECIS symposium. NIDA and NIAAA are now soliciting applications to participate in the ECIS symposium. Applicants should be trainees or junior investigators who meet the definition of a NIH New Investigator/Early Stage Investigator (NI/ESI) of being within 10 years of completing a terminal research degree or medical residency. Six to eight individuals will be selected for this year’s symposium. Individuals selected for ECIS will be chosen for the quality of their research and its relevance to the missions of NIDA or NIAAA.
