Dr. Hien receives Award for Excellence in Trauma Services for the Underserved: Policy, Advocacy, Research, and Clinical (PARC)

Dr. Denise Hien was honored with the Award for Excellence in Trauma Services for the Underserved: Policy, Advocacy, Research, and Clinical (PARC) by the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS) during the 39th Annual Meeting in Los Angeles, California, November 2023. This prestigious award acknowledges the work of pioneers who have done outstanding efforts in trauma work with underserved communities including those facing systemic barriers to equity, inclusion, and social justice based on various identities, such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, nationality, political beliefs, and other ideologies.   Dr. Hien is widely recognized as a trailblazer in the field of post-traumatic stress and addictions. Her extensive body of work has significantly contributed to the evidence base on effective interventions for individuals dealing with trauma and substance use disorders.  

 Dr. Hien was also a panelist at the Annual Meeting showcasing her expertise through her presentation “Moving PTSD Treatment Research Forward – What Meta-Analysis Can and Cannot Do”.
