DESCRIPTION:Featured Speaker: Cheryl Ortiz\, DEA-NJ SAC\nCheryl Ortiz is the Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Jersey Field Division covering the state of New Jersey. SAC Ortiz is a 21-year veteran of the DEA having served diverse assignments to include multi-agency international investigations and local impact initiatives in domestic offices. She previously served in the United States Marine Corps\, and as a deputy sheriff with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. SAC Ortiz began her career with the DEA in the Miami Field Division where she served as a special agent and then as a supervisory special agent overseeing a HIDTA Task Force. After serving as a supervisory special agent in Miami\, she continued her career as a supervisory special agent of a HIDTA group out of the Washington Division. SAC Ortiz was also assigned to DEA Headquarters as a staff coordinator at the Special Operations Division\, where she supported and oversaw DEA operations throughout the Mexico\, Central America and Canada section\, and the Latin America and Caribbean section.
