SUMMARY:GSAPP Webinar - Medical and Legal Marijuana in NJ: Practice and Policy Issues
DESCRIPTION:The goal of this interactive workshop is to identify the changes that have occurred in the NJ Medicinal Marijuana Program. The history of marijuana legalization and major events that have shaped this history are discussed. Known scientific research on the benefits of medicinal marijuana and the risks associated with marijuana usage are covered\, as well as the continued barriers to better scientific research on this topic. Interactive exercises are incorporated. Other exercise includes the participants discussing how treatment is impacted by medicinal marijuana. \nParticipants will be able to: \n\nAt the end of this course\, participants will be able to interpret three changes that have occurred since 2019 in the NJ Medicinal Marijuana Program.\nAt the end of this course\, participants will be able to analyze whether to continue services for a client on medicinal marijuana if their only diagnosis is cannabis use disorder.\nAt the end of this course\, participants will be able to identify at least three key historical events that shaped marijuana’s legal status in the United States.\n\nInstructor: Glenn Duncan\, LPC\, LCADC\, CCS\, ACS \nFor more details and registration\, click here.

DESCRIPTION:The Rutgers Addiction Research Center (RARC) is thrilled to announce the launch of the Treatment & Recovery Workgroup\, a new initiative led by Dr. Ethan Cowan\, Associate Director of Treatment & Recovery at RARC. The purpose of this gathering is to bring together leading minds in the field of addiction research from across Rutgers\, specifically those working on treatment and recovery. We aim to foster an environment of idea exchange\, facilitate networking opportunities\, and spark collaborations that can drive impactful\, interdisciplinary research projects. This meeting marks the beginning of what we hope will be an ongoing conversation among researchers dedicated to advancing treatment and recovery outcomes. \nWe invite you to join us for the inaugural meeting on Thursday\, November 21st\, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM in Room D203 at the University Behavioral Health Care building (671 Hoes Ln W\, Piscataway\, NJ 08854).
